Asian Food Fest #1 Oct 2013 : Japan – ROUND UP

collage
After more than one month of cooking and blogging, our very first Asian Food Fest for Japan has finally come to an end! My apologies for not putting up the round up earlier. In fact, I haven’t updated this blog for more than 2 weeks, no thanks to an annual mundane event called “ICT” otherwise better known as “reservist”. That aside, it has been a really eventful month with a whooping 150 qualifying entries! Thank you all for the resounding response!

I’m not sure about the rest of you but I must say that I’d learnt loads about Japanese cuisine through all the reading up and research done for the preparation of the dishes I’d submitted. A personal theme I’d set for myself is “Classic Home-styled Japanese cooking” and the event really made me look beyond the standard restaurant-deli dishes which most of us already knew. And that is most definitely in line with the spirit of Asia Food Fest on the whole when Wendy and I were discussing its conceptualisation. To venture, to experiment and to step into previous unchartered waters is most definitely what we’d aimed for in this whole series of AFF events that would follow. So please stay on with us on this long journey which promises nothing but lots of excitement and fun!

The entries are categorised according to their method of cooking as traditionally classified in Japanese cooking. Without further ado, here are all the entries for this month’s Asia Food Fest Japan. Well done everyone!!! I hope I didn’t must out on anyone’s submissions but if I did, please let me know!

So here you have it! All 150 entries for our very first Asian Food Fest – Japan Month round up. As I’d promised, there will be a cookbook giveaway happening very soon, in conjunction with the event. Due to the overwhelming response in terms of the number of entries received, I’d decided to give away TWO cookbooks instead of just one! The winners would be randomly picked by an online app. Are you gonna be one of the two lucky recipients for one of the cookbooks? Stay tuned to my upcoming posts to find out!

Meanwhile, please hope over to my dear friend, Lena of Frozen Wings where she is hosting Asian Food Fest #2 Nov 2013 – Thailand! Expecting lotsa heat and spice this month as we cook up a storm from the Land of A Thousand Smiles! Be sure to join us!
